5 Things you can do during lockdown

fun & safe ideas to help pass the time during the lockdown

I think it’s safe to say….we are all over this. It's definitely true what they say, Covid Fatigue is a real thing. Not only am I completely over Covid, but I'm not a Winter Lover, so this season is a struggle for me. I've realized I just need to grin and bear it, put my snowsuit on, get out there and make the best of this with my kids. I recently turned to my awesome Instagram followers (@christinepyke.realtor) to help create a list of fun and safe ideas to help pass the time during the current lockdown!

Lucky for us, we live in such a great city and we have so many amazing places close by. Whether you have kids or not, there is something for everyone!

1. TOBOGGANING

Every kid’s favourite! Guelph has some really great hills including Moe Hill, The Guelph Country Club, Westwood Public School, Lambton Hill and Scottsdale Hill. Seems like everyone has the same idea though, so be prepared for a bit of a crowd.

2. GO FOR A HIKE

Whenever I'm having a bad day, a hike always calms me down and helps clear my mind even if it's just a short one. Here are some of the great walking and hiking spots that Guelph has to offer:-Gorba Trail -Starkey Hill-Preservation Park-University of Guelph Grounds -The Arboretum-Grand River Parks and Conservation Areas (Rockwood is my favourite!) Check here for park status before you go: https://www.grandriver.ca/en/outdoor-recreation/park-status.aspx

3.OUTDOOR SKATING

For now, we are fortunate to have a few rinks open. If we can prevent overcrowding, hopefully they'll stay open for the season. Market Square is open and apparently a rink is in the works for Exhibition park.Puslinch Optimist Rink is open for Puslinch residents only.
Build your Own Outdoor rink-If you have the space...why not?! You can find Rink Kits starting at just $60.

4. ROAST S’MORES

Pull out your fire table or Chimenea, load some hot chocolate in a thermos, bundle up and have a little outdoor picnic. Always a hit with the kids!

5. TAKE YOUR PUP TO THE DOG PARK - (If they can handle the weather of course.) My Mini Dachshund, Poppy has decided she's quarantining until spring. She hates the cold as much as I do. We can't even get her to walk to the end of the driveway let alone take her to the park. Hopefully, you will have better Luck! Peter Misersky Park, Bristol Park and The Hanlon Dog Park are all great spots to check out.
